feedback“Operation Vivo” is a DVD commissioned by the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) at the City Of London Police (COLP), used to train over 1500 Officers in the National Intelligence Model in under 3 weeks. The FIB was extraordinarily pleased with the product, describing it as “fantastic” and the Issues! staff as “very professional, understanding and implementing the model’s requirements superbly”. The COLP earned themselves even more kudos when the DVD was approved by the National Crime Intelligence Service. “Black and Blue” was a theatrical training event commissioned by Hackney County Council to promote awareness in domestic violence, racial and sexual discrimination and professional malpractice. The audience of delegates were able to work with the actors, using the medium of Forum Theatre*, to explore issues raised by the presentation. “Black and Blue” was described as “very powerful” and, by one delegate as “The most effective method of training I’ve ever encountered”. “Flashpoint” was commissioned by The City Of London Police to train over 1500 Officers in the Stop/Search Legislation of 2003. As well as addressing issues of protocol and procedure, “Flashpoint” covered areas of Diversity Training including Self-Categorisation and inappropriate behaviour in the workplace. All the officers were able to take part in workshops, using Forum Theatre* to explore the procedures and issues raised within the drama. The Head of Diversity at COLP said that “Issues! provide training that is both informative and entertaining. The feedback from officers has been excellent”. “I Didn’t Mean That!” was commissioned by Riverbrook Associates to train their staff in Diversity issues. This full-length play was adapted for a conference room and used Forum Theatre* to allow the delegates to express their ideas and beliefs without the pressure of performing in front of their colleagues. The managing director of Riverbrook noted “a real eagerness in our staff to engage in both the exciting production and its workshops”. Issues! Ltd is currently developing a training DVD for this company after the success of this project. The Informant Handler Training Course used by the Police Services has been a resounding success and the Trainer in Charge at Bishopsgate Force Training Centre said:” I really enjoyed putting the courses on. I have the utmost respect for all the work that you put into the training”. *Forum Theatre is an interactive form of training, where delegates use the actors to express their own ideas and feelings, thus enabling them to explore difficult and controversial subject with more freedom than usual.
